As one might expect, this took a while to really get rolling, initially displaying a reticent nose of moderate earth and spice but after 45 minutes, it began to really expand to reveal the full bread of a well-aged Musigny. The big and borderline robust flavors possess ample depth and power if not the sheer complexity of the very best examples of this wine yet the vibrancy and punch are most impressive and the only real nit is a finish where the tannins are borderline inelegant. This is still youthful and it will continue to hold, if not necessarily improve, for at least another 2 to 3 decades and overall, this is a fine if not truly spectacular example, at least not by the remarkable standards routinely achieved by this wine. - BH
