The 1970 Cheval Blanc is drinking very nicely, offering up aromas of sweet plummy fruit mingled with notions of burning embers, tobacco leaf, violets and cedar. Medium-bodied, with a fleshy core of fruit, supple, largely melted tannins and a persistent finish, rumors of its demise are much exaggerated. - WA
